The Curator’s record
The knocker disappeared from the abandoned house and later arrived at the Caravan. Three knocks heard from behind the observer must not be answered.
Provenance
The Harrow family answered knocks after midnight and their son knocked three times in reply. The answering sound moved from the porch into the walls, cupboards, floors, and rooms. They survived by refusing further response and abandoned the house at sunrise.
Observed activity
One, two, then three midnight knocks invite an answering presence. After a reply, knocks move progressively closer inside the building. The owl's eyes may turn inward toward the structure it guards.
