The Curator’s record

The bell is not to be sounded. If a road appears near its case, visitors must disregard every object, door, whisper, or familiar voice found along it.

Provenance

Elowen removed the bell from her coven and rang it without the required candles, circle, or completed song. The road it called offered forbidden knowledge until the way home disappeared. The coven found only the bell at the forest edge; it later passed from hand to hand before reaching the Caravan.

Observed activity

Three chimes can reveal a silent, moonless road that offers whatever will keep its traveler walking. After the bell rings, a distant answering chime and a woman repeating the final verse of a song may be heard.
