The Curator’s record
The volume is retained as the material origin of Quarles's appointment. No additional names may be entered on the final page.
Provenance
Poe found the book while searching a forgotten library. He signed its final page with the name Quarles. When the pact fully awakened after his death, the stories endured and the signed name became a raven born from ink, ambition, and shadow.
Observed activity
A signature made in ambition may be claimed by the shadows. The pact binds Quarles to the Mystical Caravan as storyteller, though genuine connection with listeners has loosened its chains by a small degree.
