The scythe's glow is monitored. Any increase in brightness near an observer is treated as an instruction to cease work and step away.
Provenance
Farmer Edric bought the scythe despite the blacksmith's warning. Its efficiency consumed his rest, relationships, family, and joy before taking Edric himself. Burial and disposal in a river both failed; the villagers eventually sold it.
Observed activity
The blade never catches or dulls. Orange cracks brighten with use and spread into the wielder's hands until they cannot release it. Faint breathing can be heard within the metal.
